Hi, it’s me again ๐
This time from a new kitchen and a new city, with a new recipe for my new favorite: puff pastry breakfast waffles!!
For a long time now I was planning to use my waffle maker for other things than just the

Soy sauce deviled eggs
This recipe may or may not be accidentally on time for Easter ๐ Because who doesn’t know them, the deviled eggs? In the Netherlands we call them

For the past six weeks P was working a lot. Or was it seven weeks? I completely lost all sense of time, I have no idea… He worked regularly until around midnight, and even on weekends he had to be at the office.
Sporadically he came home around dinner time if he was lucky, and a few times they gave the whole crew a day off on Sunday to take a break or because they were expecting a tough week. Just a few more of those days to go for him… the deadline is today. Or next Monday, they’re not quite sure yet ๐
P and I got totally confused by the days. Today is Friday or Wednesday? That’s what happens if you work over the weekend.
Fortunately it is a fun project he’s working on. Thatโs making up a bit for the fact that he worked 185 hours in the past two weeks Yep, 185 hours, that’s not

What is a person without friends? Not much in my case. Itโs so fun though, moving to the other side of the world with just your husband and spending lots of time together. But of course I also need to do things with friends: going to see a movie, going for a walk around the block or simply meeting for coffee.
Those moment are important for talks about all things women. Dieting, running a household, clothes… you know the drill. Things that P doesnโt care about, because why should he care when I walked out of the beauty salon with a bloody
Egg salad has been in my life as long as I remember. My grandma makes the best egg salad in the whole wide world – yes I’m serious! I don’t even know what she puts in it. Raw thinly sliced onion, that’s for sure. But there must be a secret ingredient she uses for it.
I need to ask her for the recipe!
But I myself also make a decent good egg salad if I can say so. For the past weeks I’ve been making quite a few egg salads, I don’t even know why.
I didn’t had to think about it when I read about the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap. Of course I’m participating in this! Who doesn’t like cookies? I love every part of it: baking them, eating them (still warm out of the oven? yes please!) and handing them out to friends to surprise them.ย
And of course I’m participating in this cookie swap with some typical Dutch cookies!
Do you believe me if I tell you this was the first chocolate cake I’ve ever made in my 31 year old life?
Well, it is… Don’t get me wrong, I really like chocolate especially when it’s good quality and when there is some filling or salt involved ๐
And I also like baking cakes but tell me: who is gonna eat all that delicious goodness?
With just four months of living in LA there is still so much of this city to discover, so many beautiful places and interesting restaurants to check out.
So when Palmilla | Cocina y Tequila in Hermosa Beach invited the LA Foodbloggers for a brunch on a Saturday I knew I couldn’t say no. I’d never been to Hermosa Beach before and you can always wake me up for Mexican food so that made me go jump in the car on an early Saturday morning two weeks ago. OK, 11am doesn’t sound early at all but to me it meant I had to leave around 10.30am and beat traffic… on a Saturday!
Palmilla is located at the Hermosa Beach Pier and that area is really popular with tourists. You’ll find a lot of boutiques and eateries around there and I was surprised that Palmilla is so much different than the other restaurants.
Sometimes you know you need to step down for a moment.
Just take a step back and rest or change something in your way of living. After all these hectic months of saying goodbye to our live in Amsterdam en figuring out how living in Los Angeles works I finally feel we have settled in.
Life is never boring at the West Coast, unless you lock yourself up every night at your house ๐
But since my life finally has become more relaxed I have time to think about my way of eating again.
