When you’re living abroad for a longer period of time, you are going to miss the most crazy things from your home country.
For me, this took about 1.5 to 2 years. It obviously was related to the fact that I was pregnant at the time. I had a sudden need for eating food from the ‘old days’! And all this while Dutch food at all is not

I expect this will be my last recipe before I’m going to spend my time giving birth and caring for a baby 😉
You’ve probably noticed that it’s a little quiet

Home made shawarma om freshly baked pita bread with garlic sauce, who doesn’t like that?! We ate this regularly on Saturdays when I was a teenager, and I still think it’s delicious!
When I was 17 I was working at the supermarket, in the butcher shop, on the weekends and Thurday evenings. On Saturdays I had to start at 7am or 8am and in the end I was the one running the butcher shop.

Today is already the last day of September, and that means the last day of the Pure Food Challenge! For a month I ate ‘pure’, without any sugar and refined carbohydrates. During the week I actually ate no carbohydrates, on weekends occasionally some bread, flatbread or pancakes and then only the whole grain variety.
It went actually pretty good, my goal has been met

It is the start of day 4 of my month without sugars and refined carbohydrates, and it’s going great! In the end I feel much better when I eat real food, so why do I fall in the same traps again every time and I find myself with a donut in one hand and a piece

Today is a very special “Food Truck Friday” because I have to admit that the inspiration for this recipe didn’t came from a food truck. But when you think about Food Trucks you also think about street food, right? And a night market is also all about street food! Because a while ago, I discovered something new (to me) in LA: the Night Market!
A Night Market is an Asian market with food stalls, music performances and some vendors selling goodies. But those last two didn’t gain my attention, because all I needed was the food!

I knew how to make these Parmesan crusted chicken bites long before I knew Parmesan chicken was already an existing dish. To me these bites were ground breaking and life changing.
Egg salad has been in my life as long as I remember. My grandma makes the best egg salad in the whole wide world – yes I’m serious! I don’t even know what she puts in it. Raw thinly sliced onion, that’s for sure. But there must be a secret ingredient she uses for it.
I need to ask her for the recipe!
But I myself also make a decent good egg salad if I can say so. For the past weeks I’ve been making quite a few egg salads, I don’t even know why.
