If I want to do my husband a favor than I have to serve him snow peas. And preferably raw. I try to eat them raw myself sometimes, but alas… I really wish I like them, so I can snack raw snow peas instead of potato chips or chocolate 😉

But however, I like them stir-fried! Fortunately, because there were beautiful purple snow peas in the box I received from Frieda’s this month. I had to be quick because once P would see that there were snow peas in the fridge, I would lose them, and

On social media I see a lot of people talking about that summer is coming to an end (well surprise… not in LA! 😉 ), but be honest, do you really need to use summer as an excuse to eat popsicles?!

Last weekend we were in Las Vegas, which is a four hours drive from LA and it’s located in the middle of the desert in Nevada. Summer is still in full swing, and desert + summer = way too hot! Jeez, that wasn’t fun… It was 107 degrees Fahrenheit, and ‘fortunately’

A kitchen sink meal doesn’t sound very appealing to me. But appearantly that’s an American thing, this kitchen sink meal. This meal often comes in the form of a salad or soup, and it’s made after cleaning out the fridge and cupboards. This way produce waste doesn’t need to go down the kitchen sink, through the waste shredder. Have I told you yet that I love that thing? It’s also

Before we moved to LA I already started to follow a couple of restaurants, food trucks and LA food bloggers on Twitter. And because of that I looked forward to our move even more! There was so much to discover in LA.

One of the food trucks that I was already following on Twitter & Instagram was Coolhaus. Coolhaus makes ice cream sandwiches. Ice and cookies = ice cream sandwich. Or: one of the most delicious things on earth. Ice cream in combination with something doughy is always a good plan: ice cream with pancakes, cake with ice cream or ice cream in a big cone. Or with cookies of course because… how brilliant is that? Just scoop some ice cream to taste between two soft cookies to taste, that’s exactly what Coolhaus does. On our fifth day in LA, I already ate my first

My mouth is half numb while I type this because I just came back from the dentist. It was the third Wednesday in a row that I had to be there. Or well, ‘had to be there’…

The first time I was there for a checkup after not seeing a dentist for 1.5 years. So now there is a lot that needs to be done, according to my American dentist. After an extensive checkup where fourteen pictures (both X-ray and normal) were made, I walked out the door with an extensive

What is a person without friends? Not much in my case. It’s so fun though, moving to the other side of the world with just your husband and spending lots of time together. But of course I also need to do things with friends: going to see a movie, going for a walk around the block or simply meeting for coffee.

Those moment are important for talks about all things women. Dieting, running a household, clothes… you know the drill. Things that P doesn’t care about, because why should he care when I walked out of the beauty salon with a bloody

Talking about food makes hungry right? Well, my friends know that I can talk about food constantly, whole day every day, so that is exactly what I love to do! Yeah d’oh, what do you think? Why did I start this blog in the first place? 😉

Last weekend it happened again, a long talk about food. About Indonesian food this time, the friends that we were travelling from SF to LA with grew up with lots of Indonesian food, something I can really be jealous about! I can’t wait until we will be invited over for dinner (this is not a hint. Or maybe it is…).

You haven’t heard from me in a while. That’s because last weekend we took an impromptu road trip to San Francisco, where we stayed for 12 hours to pick up a friend and to drive back on the Pacific Coast Highway back to LA. You’re right, this was my 4th (!!) time in 10 (!!) months that I was driving on the PCH. But this time we went on a whale watching tour and we spent the night in Carmel. The PCH is beautiful but I can tell you that the next road trip that I will plan goes to a National Park or the Grand Canyon or something, I want to see more of the US than only California 😉

Coming home I got a little sick, from tiredness I think. So I was taking some rest and only thought of all the food I wanted to make, instead of actually making it!

But now I can’t wait any longer, because these spicy roasted potatoes with Thai basil cream sauce is so yummy!

There she is again, with another sweet recipe. Yeah I’m sorry… Frieda’s sent me another box of great products and there were three beautiful Meyer lemons in it. Meyer lemons aren’t just normal lemons, they are a special kind of lemons. Just like key limes are a different kind of limes as you could read in my post about key lime pie. Meyer lemons are sweeter and less acidic than

During my first juice cleanse in September last year, I learned that I don’t need a big breakfast in the morning. During the cleanse you have to drink a breakfast juice of 18 floz, two hours later around 10am/11am yet another juice of 18 floz and two hours later it was time for another juice as lunch, again 18 floz. But I really didn’t feel hungry after the breakfast juice, so I was reluctant to drink the ‘in between’ juice in the morning.

Before the cleanse, I often ate yogurt with fresh fruit and homemade maple pecan granola for breakfast, a big bowl around 10am in the morning and then I was only hungry for lunch at around 2.30pm.
