My friend Simone from Simone’s Kitchen is a lucky girl! After she asked me to write a recipe for her blog during her vacation, I had so much inspiration that I came up with two recipes. I didn’t know which one I had to give it to her, so I sent her both recipes.
Last week you could already read about the Guacamole with beet and apple, but this week we’re giving you the recipe for a Mexican shredded beef salad.
And oh boy, this one came out delicious! For a while now this recipe was on my ‘to make’ list that I keep in my phone.
That is actually a list that is getting bigger rather than shorter, so hold on tight! There’s a lot of goodies coming because I want to make everything of course 😉
I got the idea for the Mexican shredded beef salad in a modern dinner here in LA. We have been there twice and I ordered their brisket salad both times. I am always a huge fan of trying something new but I can not guarantee that the next time I’m there I’m not ordering the brisket salad 😉
So buy a piece of brisket and go visit Simone’s Kitchen for my recipe for Mexican shredded beef salad.
Enjoy!

I love my Crock-Pot and for a long time now I was trying to make the perfect slow cooker pasta meat sauce. I really love a good pasta sauce, with lots of flavor and lots of meat. You don’t need lots of herbs, just use good canned tomatoes and let the sauce simmer for a long time.
Even though I’m at home all the time, I love

Oh Mexico! What I would like to come and visit you on vacation! But unfortunately we already used our vacation days this year for our visit to the Netherlands. Maybe next year then? Or should we go to Hawaii?
Last weekend I happened have to a very Mexican weekend in LA, filled of good food. And not Mexican food as I know

A kitchen sink meal doesn’t sound very appealing to me. But appearantly that’s an American thing, this kitchen sink meal. This meal often comes in the form of a salad or soup, and it’s made after cleaning out the fridge and cupboards. This way produce waste doesn’t need to go down the kitchen sink, through the waste shredder. Have I told you yet that I love that thing? It’s also

What is a person without friends? Not much in my case. It’s so fun though, moving to the other side of the world with just your husband and spending lots of time together. But of course I also need to do things with friends: going to see a movie, going for a walk around the block or simply meeting for coffee.
Those moment are important for talks about all things women. Dieting, running a household, clothes… you know the drill. Things that P doesn’t care about, because why should he care when I walked out of the beauty salon with a bloody

Aaaaaand… another one! I already promised you a second hot dog recipe. For this second edition of Food Truck Tuesday I was planning to make the Chili dog I had at our first visit of an LA food truck.
And right before I was planning to make them we ran into the Dogtown Dogs truck again, this time at the LACMA at a Sunday when we went to the La Brea Tar Pits. We were into a small and quick lunch at 3pm. Yes, on Sundays we always take it slow and easy 🙂

One of the best things of living in LA are the food trucks! My love for food trucks started almost two years, when we were in LA for vacation. P had to work that day and he took the car so I walked to the beach to sit there and read a book. On my way back I noticed I was a little bit hungry and right at that moment there it was: a food truck!
I stood in line and ordered a quesadilla. But then the lady in the truck asked me what kind of quesadilla I wanted. I panicked, looked at the menu but it was all in spanish so I ordered

I’m always a big fan of homemade food so when my brother sent me a picture of the dinner he was cooking at that moment I made a promise.
A promise to do a post on Chicken Madras curry. So here it is.
This curry is a populair dish in the Netherlands and it all comes from a package. These kinds of packages all go under the name ‘Wereldgerechten’ which means World Dishes. There is Italian lasagna, Mexican burrito’s, Indian chicken tandoori, Greek kofta, Morrocan chicken tajine, Spanish paella, Japanese teriyaki and so on.
And I have to admit, I also used to prepare those Wereldgerechten quite often.
